WHY ICELAND?
Iceland is more than a destination. It is an adventure. One can travel to Iceland to experience the stunning Icelandic nature, the beauty of the rugged landscape and the creativity of the Icelandic people. Come to Iceland to enjoy your vacation or find the perfect setting for your conference or your incentive trip. There is abundance of mountains, volcanoes, glaciers, rivers, lakes, caves and otherwise rough terrain in Iceland which makes it truly an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise.
HOW ABOUT THE CLIMATE?
This land of boiling mud pools, spurting geysers, glaciers and waterfalls is also an adventure playground. Iceland’s summers are surprisingly warm, lush and green. Contrary to what many people think, Iceland becomes very green during summertime - and the weather is quite mild.
There’s much to do in Iceland: whale watching from ReykjavÃk or HúsavÃk; exploring the volcanic landscapes of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula; discovering the puffin-speckled Westmann Islands; striking out across the vast Vatnajökull icecap; and sailing around the isolated, silent Westfjords which is home to seals, seabirds and Arctic foxes.
WHAT'S SO SPECIAL?
Iceland is one of the most sparsely populated countries on Earth. It is home to the largest glacier in all of Europe, Vatnajökull, which covers 8% of Iceland’s landmass. There are more than 30 active volcanic regions scattered across the island. Over 10% of the country is covered with glaciers. The country has no trains or railway system. So, travelling by car and, at few places, by flight are the two options. Iceland is one of the few countries in the world where you can see red Northern Lights. The country’s only international airport sits in the middle of a lava field. Visiting Iceland in summer and in winter can feel like visiting two different planets!
