WHY NORWAY?
Norway is at the northern outskirts of Europe - with almost half the country above the Arctic Circle. Known for its fascinating history and many cultural sites, recent years have also seen an increasing interest in sophisticated cities and unique architecture. From hip urban cities to glittering fjords, northern lights, and remote villages above the Arctic Circle – Norway is an exceptionally long country, packed with things to see and do.
WHAT'S SO SPECIAL?
Norway is packed full of incredible culture, amazing sights, and unforgettable experiences. We have some of the happiest people on the planet, and some of the most appealing landscapes too. There is a lot to do in Norway, depending on the region you select as well as the kind of experience you want to gain. Hiking remains the most popular summer pastime in Norway, but there are alternatives galore, from whitewater rafting – for example at Voss – sea-kayaking at Flåm, and guided glacier walks on the Jostedalsbreen.
HOW ABOUT THE CLIMATE?
The climate in Norway varies a lot from country part to country part, and there can be large variations within the separate regions of Norway as well. But in general, the coastal areas usually have relatively mild winters (still with snow and great skiing conditions in the mountains, though), while the inland parts have cold winters with plenty of snow, and hot and relatively dry summers, especially in the eastern parts of the country. This is also the best time to experience the northern lights. During summer, the sun is up all night long – the phenomenon is best known as midnight sun.
